I've heard a few exclusive tracks by Lewi and after our meet at the launch of Music Owns The Night I'm pleased to say Lewi will be performing at the next event. Music Owns The Night Launch Part Two!

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who came to Venue 229 on February 9th for the launch of Music Owns The Night.

Lost Minute kicked ass at the start of the night, it's just unfortunate that I couldn't have put them on a later slot so more people could have seen them perform.

Pierre Jermaine did a great job as host and certainly got the crowd going with his performance at the end.

Along with Matty Heanes (amazing vocals as always), Adam Burridge (who showcased some promising new material) and Mikal (who brought a big crowd of spectators) it was a good mix of entertainment. I want to thank all of the acts for their professionalism and patience (it really was the most stressful day of my life)!! I also want to thank 229's sound and lighting techinician Alessandro for doing a great job and again for his patience and for helping kick the event off to a good start!

I was overwhelmed by the turnout and now have my sights set on a follow up event. I will release details as soon as I have a date and line-up confirmed.

Music Owns The Night Launch Show

So the launch of "Music Owns The Night" is nearly here. I won't deny I've had a few sleepless nights worrying that something may go wrong but strangely, with the launch just 8 days away the nerves have eased.
I have taken a bit of a gamble by putting on 5 acts of different genres but they are all good at what they do and the majority of music lovers can appreciate good music and a good performance whatever the genre.

Street: Great Portland Street

Pierre Jermaine (pictured above & who shares the same management as N-Dubz) will be the guest co-host and will give the main event performance at the end of the night. This is going to be Pierre's debut performance but I have great confidence that he will entertain the crowd (I've heard some exclusive new material and it's really good).
I'm sure he will do a great job as host (this guy is confident with a likeable character to match) and will give the night a fun edge. As the word on the street is I'm sure he is gonna be sikkkk!!

Matty Heanes will be giving an acoustic set and again I have been lucky enough to hear some amazing exclusive new material. I met Matty less than a year ago now and I must say I was instantly inspired by his dedication to music. As well as songwriting, he can play a number of instruments, and people...Matty Heanes can sing!!

Adam Burridge will be performing with a live band. Adam has been causing a stir on the music scene of late receiving great reviews for previous gigs. I have heard from a few sources that during his January 02 Brixton Academy performance the crowd were singing along, already recognising the songs enough to know the lyrics. Not bad for someone who has been gigging for less than a year!

Mikal will be promoting his debut album F.A.M.O.U.S. An ecletic mix of urban dance and pop Mikal will turn up the heat and have the crowds on their feet. Mikal has helped promote the event and has had some of his own flyers printed so keep an eye out for those.

Last but not least Lost Minute will also be doing a live band performance. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to meet this 5 piece rock/pop band yet, instead giving faith to their solid repuation and the strong vocals of lead singer Adam to open the show.

So there you have it the launch is finally here. If you come down make sure you say hello if I'm not too rushed off my feet. The venue is really easy to find basically right outside Great Portland Street Station and if you have any problems with that it's 5 minutes walk from both Warren Street and Regents Park stations.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the show will finish by 11pm.

Tickets cost £5 and you must be 18 years or older.

Edward and John or John and Edward??

Ok. I haven't really watched The X-Factor all that much this year and not because it's the uncool thing to do, but really I haven't had the time. The most confusing thing for me as a part time viewer is the sudden rise in popularity and the tabloid frenzy of John and Edward! Or is it Edward and John? It's crazy that Britain's most popular programme which has put amazing talent such as Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke on our TV screens, is being centred around two deluded teenage boys, who cannot sing or dance and never have a chance of a successful recording career when the show is over. I remember the internet anger when Louis Walsh put the group through to the final stages and my initial thought was that some poor credible singers were about to loose out on a chance of making their dreams come true due to a silly voting decision by the British public. I for one admit that from what I have seen of the show, I am always anxious to see Edward and John perform, not only so I can gaze in absolute amazement that this is what Louis Walsh saw as being in the same calibre as winners and success stories of the show in the past, but also to see what the boys will pull ( or scrape ) out of the bag next!

I can not understand viewers votes this year as Rachel Adedeji was so unfairly voted out of the competition. I'm not sure whether or not she could have won the show, but I definitely think she was one of the strongest contenders and should have been given some more time to prove herself in the competition. It's a shame that in the sixth year of The X-Factor a novelty act who cannot sing are getting the votes just so the British public can have a laugh.

Sugababes originals re-form

Some sources are claiming that the original Sugababe line-up ( Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy ) are in talks to re-form. For Siobhan Donaghy I think this would be a great career decision. Since leaving the group in 2001 she has released two solo albums that didn't even make the Top 40 and her best solo success was the release of her first single "Overrated" which only charted at number 19. The pop band didn't really establish itself as a top tier pop group until the release of their second album "Angel's With Dirty Faces" with Siobhan's replacement Heidi Range. Even if the group decide to do a one-off gig, a small tour or a new album, Siobhan will be recognisable to fans again and could use the opportunity as a platform to release solo material again if she decides to in the future.

Europe Music Awards

The EMA's 2009 is nearly upon us and with performances by Foo Fighters, Jay-Z and Leona Lewis and with Katy Perry hosting for the second year running, the ceremony looks set to be a solid night of entertainment. Berlin has some strong battles this year with Lady Gaga, Beyonce and our very own Leona Lewis up for Best Female and Kings Of Leon and Foo Fighters up for Best Rock Act. My money is on Lady Gaga for Best Female although I would love to see Leona victorious. Kings Of Leon are my pick for Best Rock although I wouldn't be disappointed if Foo Fighters come out on top.

Cranberries re-united!

The most exciting news I've heard all month is the eagerly anticipated re-union of Irish rock band The Cranberries. Following the release of lead singer Dolores O'Riordan's second solo album "No Baggage," she announced that the group would be re-forming for a North American tour as well as some European dates. She also stated that they would be playing some of her solo songs as well as classic Cranberries tracks and some new songs that they have worked on as a band. It is yet to be announced if they will record a new album but I'm sure I'm not the only one hoping they do.
